I need your support! I am now fundraising to become a full-time missionary apologist with Ratio Christi. Follow the link below to my donation page, and please pray about helping me reach others for Christ. https://give.ratiochristi.org/missionary/duran-smith

I am a writer, director, actor, and Christian apologist.

When I was fifteen years-old, I went to my first audition and got the lead role in the school play. Simultaneously, I had started shooting and editing movies with my family's digital camcorder. That was the year I became a filmmaker. I started college in my hometown at the University of West Georgia. While there, I wrote and directed two full-length stage plays. Then I drove cross-country to Los Angeles to attend film school at Biola University. It was at Biola where I honed my screen acting skills, and I also discovered my deep love for aesthetic philosophy. After delving into the world of film theory, I finished my film degree with a minor in theatre performance at Georgia State University in Atlanta.

While at GSU, I became the chapter president of Ratio Christi, a national campus ministry dedicated to Christian apologetics education and dialogue. I have since been a leader in the Atlanta chapter of Reasons to Believe, a Christian apologetics organization focused on creation science and historical evidentialism. Over the years, I have given numerous apologetics presentations on evidence for the resurrection of Jesus and the authenticity of the Shroud of Turin, but my primary focus is on the aesthetic philosophy of art and beauty.

I started VeriMyth as a place to bring my many artistic and philosophical interests into harmony. I love the wonder of cinema, I believe in entertainment as an edifying virtue, and I believe the Author of truth, goodness, beauty, and story is to thank. If I'm not working, I'm probably at the movies, reading a book, listening to film scores, or hiking in the mountains. I currently live on the bank of the Chattahoochee River in Atlanta, and I enjoy driving my Jeep with the windows and top down, singing along to John Denver and Andrew Peterson.

Thanks for visiting VeriMyth!
